FDR's "Economic Bill of Rights"

From FDR Goes To War by Folsoms:

"…an "economic bill of right," which he [FDR] announced during 1944. "Our economic bill of rights," he said, "like the sacred Bill of Right of our Constitution itself—must be applied to all our citizens… These new rights included:

The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or farms or mines of the nation;

The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;

The right to every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;

The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home and abroad;

The right of every family to a decent home;

The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;

The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;

The right to good education.

"Roosevelt concluded: "All of these right spell security. And after this war is won we must be prepared to move forward, in the implementation of these rights, to a new goals of human happiness and well-being."

FDR knew full well that without going to war there would be no possibility to implement his full program, The Plan, of Communistic socialism (even the Communists have never promised all that FDR wanted to provide all Americans!) and was very anxious to enter the war. In that context, America, under FDR, did everything to provoke Germany and Japan into actions that would "force" America into a war. FDR proved that democracy and wars are a superior road to communism, a form o serfdom, that Hayek warned against just as FDR was planning! There are a thousand pretexts to enter a war and get popular support, including from the poor buggers who die fighting the war to "defend" the state. Very few states have fought more offensive wars than the US.

Obama is just following The Plan, as did GW Bush with his prescription drugs and "homeownership" programs. It is only a matter of few short years before Americans would be forced to pay higher taxes, under whatever guise, including user fees, to support the path to the American version of communism charted by a president who is among the few that Americans admire the most. There is no probable way to reverse the welfare state.
