Globalization, at its Peak, is followed by death and destruction! The plague of the 14th century, known as the Black Death in Europe, was a direct result of globalization and thriving gloabl trade when most of the Old World population was untied under the Mongols and Turks. What led to the spread of the plaugue? Intially, the conquest, but the spread was all due to the Global Trade! Other common cause of massive death and destruction following a peak of a Longer wave is the loss of the old political order. In the case of Rome both happened, plague followed by political problems.
